For any fellow recolorers: My Wood Colors

Jul 24, 2019 15:44

OK. So. I've gotten a couple of people who've asked me, over on MTS, if they can recolor stuff in my wood colors. My answer is: "Are you kidding? You want to take stuff off my massive to-do list? I love you forever ( Read more... )

First off, can I just say thank you for posting your colors! I've only just recently discovered them after making the painful decision to completely recreate my download folder. Your maxis match wood colors are faboo!

Second, that was about the best ToS type post I've read ever.

That is all.

Oh, you're very welcome for the color codes. It's actually selfish on my part. I'm hoping that sharing them will reduce my "workload!" *laughs* So please, use them, share them, etc. I'm just hoping to get links back so that, as I said, I can reduce my workload.

As for the ToS...Heh, well, it's nice to own a particularly ill-tempered llama. I do want to make an icon of him. Picture-taking is problematic, though; you have to catch The Admiral in a good mood...and he's not often in a good mood. And then when he is, he has an alarming tendency to moosh his face right into the lens of the camera if he notices that you're trying to take a picture. Silly beast...

Big hugs and thank you so much for sharing your colours, I was only thinking the other day that I would like something recoloured in one of your colours, now I can do it myself. Oh and thanks to Lee for sending me here.
Take care and stay safe.
Michelle

P.S I can promise you I'll never have to receive a visit from The Admiral :)

Well, that's fortunate for you because I take it from your user name that you're in Australia. The Admiral has been on a plane a few times, and he does NOT fly happily. So he'd be even more ill-tempered when he got Down Under. ;) Then again, he DOES like being on boats (Don't ask how I know this. *laughs* )...but that would take longer. On the plus side, he'd probably be danged mellow, relatively speaking, by the time he got there...

Anyway, seriously, please do use the colors in good health. Have fun with them. Maybe I'm strange, but I find recoloring fun and relaxing and all that. :)

Take care, yourself!

I never thought of researching the hex codes for the colors I want to match -- I've been applying the textures as layers and then adjusting them by eye, and it can get frustratingly difficult: some of my results have disappointed me. But now, seeing what you've done, I'm going to do the same for the stucco colors. Thank you so much for this clue!

You're welcome. :) It really is the best way to do it, I think, if only because my "eyeballing" is not always the best. Unfortunately, I made/kept the list after I'd already made some things that I did eyeball before it occurred to me that I should keep a standardized list. Notably, this is the case with the initial wood floor recolors I did, so there are some subtle matching disparities here and there. Eventually, I will probably re-do the floors and maybe add in some of the EP ones I like while I'm at it, like some of 'em that came with AL, because the issue bugs me. But for now...it is what it is ( ... )

Thank you for sharing the hex codes.

They also work notably well in TS3 and in site coding ( Ebil Levini is Ebil ). Anyway, lets hope I font meet that mean admiral guy. Though it would be funny to meet him :).

You're welcome. Watch me infiltrate TS3 without actually playing the damned game. *laughs* As for site-coding...They're rather boring colors for that, don't you think? Although I suppose neutral IS best. *laughs*

As for The Admiral...Trust me, you don't want to meet him. I'm not kidding when I say that he's a mean mo-fo. Spits. Bites. And kicks like a mother. He makes mountain lions cower in terror. Seriously, he does. We've seen it happen. No, if you want to meet a llama, I'll send over The Commodore, our beta male. He's about as sweet as a llama gets...which isn't very sweet, actually. The alpacas, on the other hand...

Thank you so much for these wood colors. I just started recoloring (I have several of your recolors in my game and I love them) and I couldn't find the right colors to use for wood recoloring. Your codes are excellent and they work great. My favorite is espresso wood, I have been trying to recolor my nursery in espresso wood and what a disaster it has been, until I found your color codes. Thanks so much.

I am very glad that they were helpful to you!

And kudos to you for making nursery furniture in a dark wood. I like that, myself, but it seems most people go for pastels or, at most, light wood. :)

I mostly used light wood or white nursery sets too but I always loved dark wood on anything. I recolored the espresso madison nursery by simscorner at mts. I love that set and with your color codes it looks great in the espresso wood. I'm doing the whole nursery in a chocolate and cream theme with baby zoo animals. I also started making my own wallpaper with homecrafter too. I've had this game for so long and never tried these great tools to make stuff for the game. I think I'm having more fun creating and recoloring than playing the game lol.

That sounds really lovely. I love dark wood and cream together. It just blends so harmoniously and looks really pretty. And Espresso was a good choice to use, since it has a warm cast to it and will look especially nice with cream.

And yeah, once you start creating, playing seems to fall by the wayside. Or at least that's the way it was for me, at first. Now I seem to go in spurts. I'll have a creating binge, then a playing binge, then a building binge, then back to creating, etc. etc. Right now, I'm in "building mode." *laughs* With breaks to recolor fireplaces, apparently... *laughs* So have fun creating. And you should think about sharing what you make, too, once you're happy with what you're making. :)
