Summary : Few weeks after Ohno rejected Nino’s confession, Nino decided to quit Arashi, making Ohno wonder if his rejection was the reason. But he has his own suspicions, and he wanted to know.
He made his way into the building, ignoring the murmurings around him. His heart filled with rage and hatred accumulated over the past month. When he received a message from the old man this morning, he knew it was the time to lash out.
“Ninomiya-san,” the receptionist half exclaimed.
“Johnny-san,” he said it short. The receptionist nodded acknowledging before he made a call and another woman who Nino quickly recognize as Johnny’s personal assistant made her way down to the lobby. He followed her lead to the old man’s room on the upper floor. He watched her knocked softly on the door to the old man’s room and few seconds later, he was alone with his ex-boss in the room.
He snickered bitterly. Johnny-san’s message this morning was short. He wanted to meet him. But his hatred was overpowering. He was under this man’s care for years, and he couldn’t help wondering how could he turn a blind eye to the things that happened.
“Get straight to the point, sir,” he said, stressing on the word. “Do you want to use me as well? Just like what your best friend did it with me?”
His words were full of rage. He stared murderously at the old man, delivering every emotion he had inside him, wanting his old boss to see it.
But then, when the old man started to speak, the table turned with what he heard.
“I’m sorry,” the old man said. “I know after all the things that happened to you, sorry is not enough...”
“Of course, it is not! I lost everything! My pride. My confidence. All my loved ones! What have you done to help us when that happened? Nothing! We’re just your cash cow and that is always how you see us!”
“Ninomiya-kun,” the old man sighed. “Have it I known before things goes irreparable, I would stop it. But things happened and even the power I have in this industry couldn’t put a stop to it. It had gone beyond control. Before I knew it, you put an end to your own happiness.”
He paused. For a while he stared at the ex-idol face. Nino had been in this jimusho ever since he was a teenager. And he knew, everything that had happened started with him. He has heard rumors about Sugimoto before, yet he entrusted his idol’s life into that person’s hand, just for the sake of friendship.
And Sugimoto betrayed his trust. Despite all the warnings he had given to that man, Sugimoto had it up his sleeves. After years of believing that his friend won’t betrayed his trust, the day he finally knew the truth was the day he lost one of his idols from the company.
He felt his guilt tormenting him. And looking at Nino now, he just wanted to do something for the man. To make up for the life that he had ruined because of the misplaced trust.
“When a young boy came up to me, saying he wanted to be an idol and I said yes, I bear responsibilities for him,” he said, sighing. “I’m sorry I wasn’t being responsible enough to you,”
Nino’s eyes narrowed, annoyed.
“Things happened. Irreparable things.”
“Your words doesn’t mean anything to me now!” Nino hissed.
“I know. But please let me offer you something this one last time.”
“What? Another man to please?”
The old man shook his head.
He left the old man’s room with his heart full of doubts despite him saying yes and giving the old man another chance.

Aiba couldn’t help but stare at the empty ceiling of his hospital room. There’s a lot of things churning inside his head right now, wondering if everything could be sorted out properly, or maybe solved in the most positive way for everyone.
This past month, he’s been under a lot of stress. It’s all coming from his sadness of losing a friend, a guilt for being the reason to Nino’s miserable life and for causing his groupmate’s current anguish. This resulted in his pneumothorax attack, for the third time in his life. Luckily it happened when his bandmates were around.
He told the other members to go home after a night of waiting at the hospital. Sho and Jun looked like they haven’t rest for a week while Ohno, he just kept frowning. Not a smile formed on his face anymore. After trying to assure the other members, telling them that he’ll be alright, they finally agreed to leave with promises of coming for a visit the next day.
Deep inside, he wanted them to get back together. He missed all the laughter they once shared. All the silliness. They used to enjoy every single thing together. But then, things happened, and their life changed in almost everything. It hurt him, and he couldn’t say out loud how frustrated he was feeling over the things that happened.
It was around 8.00pm when soft knocks on the door startled him, pulling him away from his thoughts. Quickly he looked in the direction. The door slide open, revealing Nino behind it.
His eyes widen in shock.
“Am I dreaming?” he asked. He thought he was dreaming at first, but when he heard Nino laughing over his question, he knew he wasn’t.
Slowly, Nino made his way to the chair next to his bed. He took a seat before staring at Aiba in silence, falling deeper and deeper into his own thoughts.
God. It felt like ages since he last saw the man. Nino looked much skinnier than he remembered and it hurt him thinking that he was part of the reason behind his best friend’s misery.
“Nino, I…”
“I am not supposed to be here now, Masaki. My flight is in 15 hours and I haven’t finished packing,”
Aiba startled. Flight?
“Jun-kun texted me about your condition last night. I feel bad if I didn’t go and meet my best friend before I leave,”
Aiba didn’t have a good feeling when he heard that. “to where?”
“New York. I met Johnny-san yesterday and he reminded me that I have a dream that I haven’t accomplished,” he said, paused for a brief moment before continued again. “I want to be a film director, remember? I forgot it as well, but Johnny-san found a best place for me to go and learn. I couldn’t say no,”
Silence. Aiba bit his lips before he asked again.
“Do the others know?”
Nino shook his head.
“It’s better if they don’t. I don’t want to have second thoughts if they come sending me off at the airport,”
“But Riida will be sad. God, Nino. Do you know how miserable he was when you’re gone? He kept insisting on trying to find you.”
“And he found me, not in the best way, I have to say,”
Both of them fell silent.
Nino never really want to talk about it with Aiba. he knew Aiba was feeling guilty over the things that happen. For years, Aiba was the only person who knew his secret. Aiba was the one who stayed, trying to help him to find another way out of his own problem. Aiba too, was encouraging him to confess to Ohno, knowing if things work, it would at least make him happy.
But as he gave a thought about it, he was being unfair to Ohno. He wanted to be love by the man, but at the same time, he knew he would still have to work for Sugimoto, despite the sweet promise of letting him go. Somehow, he’s glad it didn’t work between him and Ohno. He couldn’t betray the man he loves. Never.
“I’m sorry, Nino.” Aiba suddenly spoke, breaking the silence in the room.
“What is that sorry for?”
“For encouraging you to confess to Riida. You must be hurt when he rejected you,”
Nino sighed.
“I’d be lying if I said I didn’t. But that guy is nice. At least he didn’t reject me with any harsh words.
“I want to start afresh, Masaki. Forget all this. The scar will stay, but I need to move on... without him.”
“You’re giving up?”
Nino nodded.
“What if he just realized that he loved you?”
“No way. You can’t make a straight man fall in love with you in a few months, Masaki.”
“But Riida knew you from years ago. You should see how devastated he was.”
“Even if he did, Masaki, I couldn’t believe he really love me. It could be out of pity and Masaki, love out of pity won’t work,”
“I have to go Masaki. I need to be at Narita at 8 tomorrow,” he said, gripped the man’s hand, trying to ensure him that everything will be fine. Somehow, Aiba didn’t even react to his assurance. Only sadness was perfectly expressed through his eyes.
“Take care,” he said, standing up from his seat. “I prefer if you don’t tell them I’m going. I’ll tell them myself before I take off,”
“Nino,” Aiba called him just before he reached the door. He turned. “Don’t forget us.”
“How could I? Arashi is the best thing ever happen in my whole life,” he said, smiling. All the memories he once had with the members flashed through his head, sending waves of sadness for not being able to say it directly to the other members. He wasn’t ready to meet them yet. Maybe sometimes, in the future, when things a little bit better for all of them, he will apologize to them, for everything.
“You can tell them that.” he said to Aiba. With one final smile and wave to the man, he left the room.

Sho, Jun and Ohno visited him the next morning when it was still early for a visiting time. Luckily it was a private room and he told the nurse to let them in
At least Sho-chan and Jun-kun look better than yesterday, he thought. His sight then shifted to Ohno who was standing, leaning against the wall near his bed.
His stomach churned. Despite everything that Nino said, he could see how miserable Ohno seem since he met Nino again. His sadness showed in every gesture he made. Perhaps, Nino was right. Ohno felt guilty. But what if that’s what made him realize that he really loved Nino, why should he keep it secret since that man is leaving them?
“Riida,” he spoke soft, stopping Sho from telling him about the food they brought for him. His eyes met Ohno who looked at him with a frown. “If my calculation right, he should be boarding in an hour,”
“Wait, what? Who?”
“Nino. He’s leaving for…” Ohno didn’t even let him finish his words. He rushed out the room, leaving the other two members who were too shocked to even react.
“Don’t you two want to meet him?”
Both Sho and Jun shook their head.
“They need to have some time for themselves,”
Aiba nodded. Somehow, he noticed the bitter smiles on their faces.
“He said, Arashi is the best thing that ever happen in his whole life”
“Of course, it is!” Jun retorted. “If he said otherwise, I’m going to kill him with my own hands!”
Aiba laughed. He teased the man even more when he saw Jun hiding his tears with a laugh, jokingly telling Jun he was such a crybaby.
They missed Nino, Aiba knew it. And they forgave him.
