Might you be referring to the famous Sachertorte??? Oh. My. God.

I have only sampled it. The roomies are going to make a whole occassion of it soon as a treat :D

And then all the other pastries in the various places around...

Although I must admit I rather like to avoid the pedestrian area - it is probably much more overpriced and much less a "true Viennese experience" than the local shops and cafes closer to my apartment.
