Like... audio recorder? Or video? I'm of the opinion that digital audio recorders are absurdly expensive... but that was a few years ago. Still, I don't think demand's gone up, so prices are still pretty high. And their not all that high quality - after all, the mics on most of them aren't exactly amazing.
Hm, are you trying to record secretly? Or is being out in the open fine? 'cause otherwise, just bring your laptop. :) I've gotten pretty good recordings of lectures using (oddly enough) Microsoft Word (notebook mode - at the bottom of a document window, click on the ripped lined-paper thing on the bottom-left). And compression is good enough that an hour only takes up around 6-10MB.
Otherwise... uh... I don't know. I haven't really shopped around for a digital one lately... I mean, I could google/hit up amazon for reviews and tell you what I can find, but I'm pretty sure you could do that too.
Oooh, or another option would be to buy the audio recorder plugin thing for an iPod. Err... assuming you have an iPod. Quality's a bit on the low side though.
