I really liked the episode, despite the fact that I've also been a bit wary and weary of Moffat and his fake-outs.

I guess my first reaction to any episode is how well I become immersed in it. If I find myself watching closely, tuning out the outside world, and believing in the world, that is half of what I need. A lot of time if a story gives me this type of feeling, I "believe" in it, even if the logic doesn't make sense on reflection.

As for the gaps in the plot...well, this is The Master. None of his schemes ever make sense.

I also believe that the next episode might not just be a resolution of this, but will go off in an entirely different direction. We still have more than a few loose ends to tie up, after all.

I've just edited my post with a couple of more thoughts I had, maybe you just missed it. One of them is how the TV trailer showed a scene that must be from next week's episode, suggesting that at least for a bit things do pick up where this episode left off.
Yeah, I was pretty into the episode except for the bit where Missy forced a kiss on the Doctor (sigh) and my confusion in the second half as I tried to piece stuff together.

I like your review and your theories. I'm still thinking, "hmmm. . ." about the episode as a whole. Properly creepy, all right.

Had the same thought about the woman in the shop, though it could just be that Clara didn't notice her at the time.

Holding off judgement about the kiss, except to say it's highly disappointing that the show had decades of sexual tension between the Doctor and the Master and then they just sort of . . . threw this kiss in . . . when it was not at all sexy, and when even if it had been sexy it wouldn't have been sexually transgressive. (For a minute I thought she was River Song or had otherwise poisoned him with her lipstick.)

Yes about brushing away trans considerations. Can't think what I'd have done differently, myself. I think this calls for somebody to write some fanfic!

I've got a somewhat crack theory that Clara and Missy (and therefore the Master) are all the same person.

The episode was problematic in a lot of places, but I also found it highly entertaining and a lot less boring than last week.
