Here is a tip for all the world travellers out there.

Today "Truphone Local Anywhere" has been launched. I've been waiting for a service like this for many years but it has taken a while for someone to actually launch something like it. So insane this is even required, considering so many phone brands are global. Why hasn't Vodafone/Verizon done this? T-Mo?

There are not that many of those global brands and they have cozy relationship between them. Roaming rates must be so lucrative for them that why would they bother to start something like this?

While useful, it still doesn't stack up financially to buying a disposable cellphone in the USA and using your own phone in the UK (or getting a local SIM in the UK - with a cheap phone if necessary - if you live in the USA). I'm sure once they open up other countries then for regular business travellers it'll become a little bit more sensible than juggling a dozen SIM cards but right now, it makes very little sense at all.
