Windows x64 report, august 2009

Trying to install Silverlight on Internet Explorer 64bit on Vista x64 I get this from microsoft's install page:

"Microsoft Silverlight cannot be used in browsers running in 64 bit mode.
This Web browser or operating system may not be compatible with Silverlight. Please review the system requirements and, if you wish to proceed, choose the link ( Read more... )

Yes, it's weird.
Lots of people seem to be shipping now 32 and 64 bit version of the same program and it's getting messy. 32bit plugin and drivers not being available in 64 bit applications makes switching complicated.

I guess the 64bit switchover will start speeding up now with Windows 7, but I've already wasted quite a bit of time dealing with Windows on 64bit not being compatible with lots of 32bit software.
