Happy Birthday Sammy!

May 02, 2007 18:29

I’m posting my new vid in honor of Sammy’s birthday, but I’m pretty nervous about this one. I showed it to someone and she said she hated the song and she didn’t think the video worked. However, since I did want to make something in honor of Sammy for the community Sammyed_Away, I’m posting it anyway. I think the lyrics really fit Sam and John. The song is ( Read more... )

Ya know, I would've never thought to connect this song with Sam but OMG *sniffle* That worked beautifully. :)

Yeah, I'd say it worked. I watched it twice in a row last night and cried through both. *bg*

Also, I had this song in my head off and on all day today. I'm blaming you. :P

As soon as I saw that someone made a video with this song, I knew it would make me cry. =( I disagree with whoever said it didn't fit. I think it fits Sam and John's relationship very well, and the clips you used were great. It definitely made me all teary. Poor boys. Great vid.

Thank-you very much! :) I'm so glad you thought the song worked. I was so worried after my friend said that. I'm glad you liked the clips I used too. I am always afraid that my clip choice isn't that great.

Holy crap.

I saw the vid title on spnnewsletter, and clicked over because I have fond memories of this song from childhood. I didn't remember the exact lyrics, but wow. They really are SPOT ON for Sam and John, aren't they?

I liked the vid overall, but far-and-away my two favorite parts were "everything he gave to us took all he had" (your clip choice there was beyond perfect) and "there was business left to do" with Dean and Sam on the Impala. That moment seemed complicated, because the camera rotates around the stationary Dean while Sam focuses on Dean too. I loved the dual implication that John had unfinished business that he had given to Dean (the secret), and that Dean was his unfinished business (because I firmly believe that John owed his older son an apology for a lot of the things he puts Dean through, and a whole lot of reassurance that he never seems to give). Those two moments especially seemed just nicely placed to the lyrics.

Thank-you so very much! I really do think the song fits Sam and John so well. Thank-you for pointing out the parts you really liked. That was so sweet of you :)

I did want that shot of Sam and Dean to have double meaning in that Sam and Dean are his unfinished business and also the burden of what Dean feels about the deal John made for him and the secret.

Thanks again! :D

Beautiful. Very well done hun. So few John clips to work with and yet you managed to tell the story with the song, very well done!

Thank-you so much! :) Thanks for telling me I managed to tell the story too, because I always worry if it's coming across the way I want it to.
