I started writing a post arguing against the 'discussing racism is American cultural imperialism OMG!' defense, wanted to quote one of my favourite poets, and somehow ended up with a whole post's worth of squee and none of my original points.

Now I'm not sure how well it counts for IBARW any more, but it is a squee-ful introduction to a great writer of colour I wish more people knew about, so it seems worth linking to even if it doesn't go in the final listing...

Here's a post about the South Asian tendency to think that fair skin is better, the general lack of South Asian women in Hollywood cinema, and a complaint about the fact that now we're going to have one, she has to be one that can pass for white.
