I don't really agree with most if not all of her ideas, but if more people were like the woman who was interviewed than there wouldn't be so much animosity in between the LGBTQ community and religious communities. They aren't going to agree and they aren't going to be great epic relationships but there will be less anger and hate (on both sides ( Read more... )

I just watched that whole video. Ahem. First thought: who the heck are the woman and the kids in the background? Why are they just sitting there? Second thought: ok. You're right. She's got a solid point. The way I see it, her argument is this: If you have faith in the Catholic God, then Catholic rules make sense. And I agree with her, there: if you believe in the Catholic God, and want to live by the morals of the Church, then you probably can't be a practicing homosexual. I especially like, though, that she seems to be making a point that it's not about trying to become heterosexual, but about accepting that you just never get to have sex (as much as that might suck). I like that she's logical and rational. I like that she seems to be saying that it's ok to not be ok with homosexuality, but that it's also ok for (non-Catholics) to be ok with it. (That said, I'd be interested in her stance on both gay marriage and gay Catholics.) I wish we could have more conversations like this one, and less WBC-esque hatred ( ... )

Life on the Rock is a weird semi live show on EWTN that became my odd guilty pleasure in college. UMF didn't have that many cable channels that were on 24 hours and EWTN was one of them ( ... )

Accepting that one cannot just "pray the Gay away" (without going into whether homosexuality is okay or not) is much much more healthy than what some religious groups are trying to sell to people. I really wish that I had seen an interview like this when I was in high school.
