Looks like those crystals really are popping up everywhere. [Pause.] I would like to know how one managed to end up in my coat pocket. And does anyone know why couldn't I see anything in my memory? I'm assuming it had something to do with the crystal itself.

[Pause.]

Pollux, are you busy? I have a favor to ask.

[Pause, pause]

Mushi

Probably the crystal. First time I got one, I couldn't see or hear anything, but I could feel and taste. It was STRANGE.

[...and now he is so very grateful he could at least hear.]

Something to remember for the next one I find. Thanks.

Sure thing. Hopefully if you get a weird one like that it's a useful memory. Mine was just of me drinking champagne.

The memories these things give us seem [pause] oddly random.

The ones I received have been similar. All but two senses were crippled, and they seem to be delivered in unusual fashions.

[A slight pause]

Thank you, Handmaiden-san.

[Her greeter had mentioned something about this, but at the time Sylvar had been too disoriented to form questions. A few people before this had brought it up. She feels terribly, terribly awkward asking - but better on paper than in person.]

I must know. These crystals, I have heard of them. But I know very little. Do they, in truth, restore fragments of what we have forgotten?

It seems so. Many of the things in my memory seemed familiar, like I should recognize them, even without my sight.

Yes. I thank you.

[There is a pause. Ask the other question, or let it go?]

If I may ask. There was talk of a payment or punishment that this Edensphere exacts upon us for each of these. What is the nature of these? I have heard different, conflicting accounts.

And - perhaps you will think this too great an imposition, but you wrote of finding one on your person. Is this how they are found always?

Koi-san called it a 'backlash,' but I guess that means the same thing as a punishment. They all seem to differ from person to person, and I haven't seen any sort of pattern to them going by the few I've heard about... but I was told the punishments are something temporary.

Again, I'm not sure... someone wrote about finding one in his shoes, but Pollux said he found his in a [pause while he flips back a few pages to look at the entry] floating ball, he just touched it and the crystal fell out.

As far as I can tell, everything about the crystals is completely random.

"Mushi?"

Yeah. [Pause] The woman in my memory said that word.

It seems important.

I wish I could say it was familiar--I hope you figure it out soon, then.

No one else seems to find it familiar either... too bad.

I do too. Maybe next time I find a crystal.

In your coat pocket, you say? Perhaps a reverse-pickpocket?

iattractmushi March 24 2010, 19:50:11 UTC
I guess it's possible. [He was sleeping outside, after all.]

Thought I was a lighter sleeper than that, though.

Perhaps he or she was an expert.

Geoff-san. I go by Cloud.

Maybe I should be happy they wanted to give me something instead of stealing my coins.
