I'm contemplating making a doctor's appointment. I must have been more than just a "hiccup". :)

I think it is interesting how somethngs we sort of leave behind. We liked or adored in in the past, but somehting (probably us) changed, and it has lost its appeal. A lot of movies have doen tha tfor me..I used ot think they were great, but now : "wjy the hell did I like THAT?!?!?!".

Yes, that's exactly it. Though I have to say I can't think of a movie like that in recent memory.

I think I read that too but after the travesty that was TSoS, I went back and scoured my bookshelf just to make sure I *didn't* have it.

Wow. Where did you find that book? I remember when it came out. I thought it sucked from the beginning, but it seems that others must have liked it, because Brooks wrote at least 35 books based on what I found at Library of Congress. Of that 35, at least 14 were books from his Shannara series. Don't think of it aa a bad book. Think of it as hours of your life that you will never get back again ... :-D

Goddess only knows. I'm sure I've had it for a while. What I suspect was that it was on my shelf and I've been studiously ignoring it for a decade or more. And you're right. Hours I won't get back. Feh.

I'm teetering on the brink of telling you not to waste your time and just donate it to someone. From an analytical perspective I can think of several reasons why you should read it, but if my only reason is to have you read it as an example of failed storytelling and misused literary devices, I think you're beyond learning that with your education level.

Burn it. :)
