A/N I've discovered that AU's are addictive. This is for
zazajbwho started me with these and I hope it goes someway to making her smile.
A/N2 Apologies for any of you who are getting this multiple times, it's cross posted
A/N3 Some of the incidents that are mentioned in the story have actually happened. They were incidents that were on sites I've worked on
They woke several hours later, shivering as the quilt had fallen on the floor when they’d made love.
“Jack….cariad?”
“Mmmm?”
“I’m cold. Let’s go get a warm shower.”
“Best….no second best offer I’ve had all day.”
They padded naked to the bathroom and as was becoming a ritual they soaped, washed and kissed each other, standing under the hot spray they let it cascade down them and wash away the bubbles.
Wrapping warm fluffy towels around themselves they made their way back to the bedroom. “I’m starving Yan, all that gorgeous hard work has given me an appetite. What say we go for a walk and find a pub that serves food?”
“Yep, I didn’t realise, but I’m hungry too. That sounds like a brilliant idea.”
They dressed, Jack marvelling how good Ianto looked in tight black jeans. He had to really concentrate, he could feel a tightness in his groin again. He’d never felt this good or wanted anyone he’d ever been out with as much as he felt for the young man in front of him.
Ianto was pulling his t-shirt on when he glanced over to Jack. He suddenly realised what he’d felt for Lisa wasn’t love, it was….convenient. What he felt for Jack Harkness was love. A love that when he wasn’t with him hurt. He knew this was right and realised he didn’t care what people thought.
“Come on the sweetheart, let’s go find food. I need something to keep my strength up.”
“Oh I’ve not witnessed a lack of strength, not after what we did earlier.”
Jack pulled Ianto close and kissed him. They made their way out into the warm summer air. Hand in hand, fingers entwined, they walked to the nearest pub. Ianto realising people were watching them, he dropped hands with Jack and snaked his arm around Jack’s waist.
Jack looked at him and smiled, pleased at how confident his young lover had become.
Gwen had not really slept properly all night. She kept thinking about Jack, then about Jack and Ianto. Why Jack, why him? You can have anyone you want. Why chose that man?
She heard movement in the bathroom and then Rhys’ footsteps heading towards the bedroom. She turned to face the wall, pretending to be asleep.
“Gwen….Gwen love, you awake?” Rhys whispered.
“Mmm, oh sorry love. Erm, what time is it?”
“Nine o’clock. I thought I’d let you lie in a while. How are you feeling?”
“Oh…erm better, but I’ll know more when I get up. Tell you what, go put the coffee on and I’ll get dressed.”
“Oh….oh alright. Why don’t we go out for the day. It’s going to be a nice day so how about we take a picnic and spend the day outdoors. You’ve been holed up in that office all week, you need some fresh air and….”
“Yeah, ok. Just get the coffee on, I need some caffeine.” She didn’t really want to go out but if she moaned about it Rhys would start questioning her and she couldn’t be doing with that. Not today.
Rhys went back to their kitchen, pleased that she’d agreed to the day out. Maybe she would relax and he’d find out what was wrong with her.
Gwen appeared in the kitchen wrapped in her dressing gown, she watched Rhys as he busied himself making the coffee “isn’t that coffee ready yet?”
“We are desperate for some caffeine aren’t we?” he looked at her a smile across his face.
“Rhys Williams will you stop having a go at me. I told you my head will be alright once I’ve had a coffee.” She saw his face change and realised she’d been a bit sharp with him. “I’m sorry love, forgive me?” She had to be careful, had to make things appear normal. “I just need my first coffee, oh and a kiss, if that’s on offer too?” She smiled.
Rhys handed her a coffee “of course there’s a kiss, come here you daft thing.” He leant in and planted a kiss on her lips.
She parted them to allow Rhys’ tongue entrance. She felt him relax careful Gwen, don’t make him suspicious. She pulled back and smiled. “Sorry Rhys, am I forgiven?”
“Of course, I can’t stay mad at you very long, you’re too gorgeous.” He really needed to talk to her, but would take it slowly. The last thing he wanted was to upset her anymore. He didn’t want to argue with her either, he loved her too much for that.
Jack and Ianto had a gorgeous lunch at the pub and couldn’t help noticing all the stares they were getting.
Jack smiled “we’re being watched my love. Are you ok?”
“Yes Jack, I’m fine. I had noticed when we came in.”
“You know why they’re looking?”
“I thought it might be because they’re jealous of me because I’ve got the most gorgeous lover ever.”
“Oh no sweetheart, they’re jealous of me because I’ve got the hottest lover around.” They laughed and to Jack’s surprise Ianto leant across and kissed him.
Ianto saw the look of surprise in Jack’s eyes. “What’s wrong? Have I done something wrong?”
“No you haven’t done anything wrong, I can take as much of that as you want to give. I’m just surprised at you being so confident. You’re gorgeous Yan and I love you so very much.”
They finished their meal and to stares from the other patrons, they left hand in hand to walk in the afternoon sunshine.
The rest of the weekend flew by for Jack and Ianto. They spent an equal amount of time in bed as they did walking in the sunshine. Neither really wanted to leave their bed, but they decided that they needed fresh air too. It was late on Sunday afternoon, they’d just arrived back from another meal at their pub when the phone rang.
“Yan, would you mind getting that, I’ve got my hands full with a surprise for you!”
“No problem cariad, I’m intrigued, what’s the surprise?”
“You’ll see in a few minutes.”
Ianto answered the phone “Harkness residence, Ianto speaking.”
“Mmm good afternoon Mr Jones, I see Jack’s got you working at home too!”
“Erm, well….not really….who is this?”
“Oh Ianto, it’s Chris, sorry I should have said, my apologies. How are you?”
“Great, thanks Chris. Sorry didn’t recognise your voice.”
“You sound fantastic Ianto, I guess Jack has been loving you whilst we’ve been away?”
Ianto felt himself blush, he’d come to terms with strangers seeing them together, but realised he was still nervous when any of Jack’s friends were around or talking about the pair of them together. Jack came through from the kitchen, a questioning look on his face. Seeing the colour in Ianto’s cheeks he wondered who it was.
Ianto smiled when he heard Jack and mouthed “Chris”
Jack smiled and went to Ianto and wound his arms around his waist.
“Erm Chris, Jack’s here would you like to speak to him?”
“Only if he’s got the energy after….well you know?” He laughed.
Ianto handed the phone to Jack “Chris hi, how the devil are you? And Damien, hope he’s ok too.”
“He’s hot Jack, as always. I’m better now you’ve both just made my day. So come on then, is your Mr Jones as sexy as my hottie?”
“Yeah Chris, he is. He’s been here since Thursday night and I’m hoping he’s going to be here longer.”
“Wow Captain, you certainly have it bad don’t you?”
“Yeah Chris, he’s, well he’s beautiful, sexy , kind and I….Oh never mind.”
“You what Jack?”
“Nothing, I’ll talk to you when you get back. Anyway, what’s with the call, is something wrong?”
“No Jack, just the opposite, I’ve finished all my meetings and sorted dates out for auditions here. I’m all done, so I thought I’d just let you know we’ll be home Tuesday instead of Friday. Is that going to be a problem, now that your Welshman has moved in?”
“He hasn’t and no it’s no problem. As I said this is your home until yours is finished, which I might add is going well so far.”
“That’s great to hear, but why haven’t you asked him to move in?”
“Didn’t want to rush him. I’ll talk to you when you get home, ok?”
“Ok Jack, but ask him sooner rather than later. Take my advice if he goes home now you’ll wonder what’s hit you. If you’re as happy as you both sound it’ll be the best thing you ever do. Damien and I knew from the beginning we wanted to be together always. You two have something wonderful, don’t spoil it by hesitating. Do it Jack, ask him. And tell him you love him, if you haven’t done so already. Don’t you dare tell me you don’t Captain, I’ve known you too long and you sound different.”
“But….I….oh never mind. I’ll talk to you when you get home.”
“Ok Jack, but promise me you’ll think about what I’ve said?”
“I will do, thanks Chris. Look I’m going to have to go. I’ve got a surprise for Yan and I’ve just heard him heading upstairs to the bedroom and I don’t want him finding it, just yet!”
“Mmm Jack whatever it is sounds hot, you’ll have to give me full details when I see you. Look take care, he’s good for you, and go have extremely hot sex, you both deserve it. Bye!” and Chris rang off.
Jack looked at the receiver and smiled. He quickly replaced it and ran after Ianto. He didn’t want him to find the surprise without him. He’d found some chocolate sauce when he’d called for the newspapers and he’d got some strawberries. He was going to make love to his Welshman, then they would dine on strawberries and chocolate. Where the chocolate ended up he didn’t care, just as long as he had Ianto in bed with him, he could always lick it off wherever it landed.
Rhys had been watching Gwen all morning, cleaning up and putting the washing on. “Gwen love, leave those, we’ll sort them together when we get home.”
“But, they need doing. I can’t just go out and leave them.”
“Of course you can. Look I’ve packed us some food, let’s go find a nice quiet spot, just the two of us and relax. You’ll make yourself ill if you continue to worry about work.”
“I’m. Not. Worried. Got that?”
“Hey, come on.” He went and held her hand and made her leave the cleaning. “Come on, let’s go, we can talk in the sunshine.”
Gwen realised she was taking her frustration out on Rhys. She’d let her feelings and the new information about Jack cloud everything else. “A picnic sounds like a nice idea, thank you. Where do you want to go?”
“How about Bute Park? We used to go there when we first got together. It’s a lovely place and I’m sure we’ll think of something to do in a secluded spot.” He smiled.
Gwen forced a smile, she supposed she could do with some air.
It was a warm afternoon and Gwen had to agree she did feel better in the fresh air. “I’m sorry Rhys” she had to make this sound good. “I’ve been horrible to you this last week haven’t I?”
“Well….sometimes love but, it’s been the pressure of the new job hasn’t it?”
“Mmm yeah. But that’s still no excuse. Please forgive me?”
“Gwen Cooper, I love you with all my heart, of course I’ll forgive you. And I know how we can make up when we get home!”
She was about to object when she thought if I say no, he’s going to want to know why. “Mmm you’ll have to remind me lover.” She smiled “Let’s go home and you can show me.”
“Thought you’d never ask.” He grabbed her hands and pulled her to her feet.
She hoped she could convince Rhys she still loved him. She did love him but she wanted Jack’s love too.
They arrived home and they’d just gotten through the front door when Rhys began discarding his clothes. He stopped, noticing Gwen looking at him still fully dressed.
“Don’t tell me you’ve changed your mind?”
“What?....No. For once Rhys I want you to undress me, you know, like you used to. Remember? I find it a bigger turn on than if I do it myself.”
He took the hint and as they made their way to the bedroom she was helping him removed all their clothes.
They spent the rest of the evening and well into the night making love. She sometimes thought they were back to how they used to be taking their time to bring on another to a climax. Their lovemaking for the first time for a long time was filled with passion. Then she looked across at a sleeping Rhys and wished it was Jack in her bed.
She watched Rhys for a while, then drifted off to sleep, wondering what it would be like to make love to her boss. She woke to the sounds of Rhys singing and clattering about in the kitchen. Looking at the clock she realised this was the latest she’d slept for a long time. She shot out of bed and as she made her way to see what Rhys was doing she was pulling on her robe.
“Morning Gwen, nearly finished. There’s coffee in the pot, toasts just about ready and I’ve got the picnic for today all ready in the fridge.”
“But….but it’s 11 o’clock, why didn’t you wake me?”
“Oh love, after everything I thought you needed the sleep.”
“But another picnic, we’re not teenagers.”
“I know, but after last night I feel like one and we need to talk Gwen.”
She held her breath, had he realised she had feelings for their boss. Had Jack told him she’d kissed him. No he hadn’t had a chance, anyway Jack had said they would talk about it Monday.
“Ok, sweetheart, let me get dressed, then we can go.”
“Great, I love you Gwen Cooper and want to make an honest woman of you.”
Gwen took a deep breath, so this was the reason for the picnic. He wanted to set a date. She would have to come up with an excuse. She couldn’t do it not to Rhys.
They had been sat watching the children playing when Rhys dropped the bombshell. “I’d like kids Gwen, maybe two then they’d be able to play with one another.”
“But we need to get married first.”
“I know, so how about we set a date?”
“We can’t afford it. Let’s save a bit more money now we’re both working, then we can have the dream wedding we always wanted.”
“But….oh, ok. I love you and want everyone to know how much. But, ok we’ll save a bit more, let’s not leave it too long, eh?”
“Ok, I promise” she smiled thanking Rhys silently for agreeing to wait. She kissed him and suggested they go home and go to bed. She couldn’t let him know what was really going through her mind.
