I loved the dialogue and the tension in this. Jack certainly achieved his goal of getting Ianto to open up--in more ways than one!

Thanks. Ianto was like a boil ready to pop and he needed Jack to help ease the pressure. Things were so muddled between them.

You think we can get a decent answer out of GDL what things could have been like early on between him and Jack?

I think that would be a great question! GDL has clearly put so much thought into the character, he must have had some idea in his head as to when Ianto started getting intimate with Jack. I'll add it to the list!
