I dunno, it's not as exciting when there's no curse to be broken. Plus I'm a little sad that it was a shut-out and the series didn't go on longer. But hey, it's still pretty exciting. And now I can go back to not caring about sports for another year.

On Life Imitating XKCD
I'm consistently amazed by Randall Monroe's ability to invent clever fictions in XKCD that ultimately wind up weaving their way into the (admittedly already thin) fabric of Internet reality. I have reached new heights in train nerdery.
Specifically, my numerous Amtrak trips between New York and Boston this year have put me in Amtrak's Select membership tier, meaning I now earn even more points now for using Amtrak. Oh, and I get free luggage tags.

My Bike
My bike hasn't been doing so hot as of late. I had the wheels trued in August after a wipeout back in Boston left them somewhat wobbly, but that repair was effectively undone in September when I hit a motorist in Chinatown as he pulled out of his parking spot into my lane. Route
So Mike and I are hiking the Northern Presidentials this weekend. So far the weather looks less than spectacular, but I'll be bringing a poncho and plenty of dry clothes, and assuming we can dodge the lightning bolts we should make it out alive.
