am I the only person who didn't know that Fat Tuesday = Shrove Tuesday = Pancake Day?

I happen to be making pancakes, but only cause i wanted to make a mardi gras colored breakfast and use my star pancake molds. which were not good at all.

I knew this, but only because I put it all together last year...so I'm really not that far ahead!

I only learned about it a few years ago, but I've been making up for lost time. :)

that is really interesting! I did not know that. It seems right that the Irish culture and the French/Cajun culture would have similar traditions, though. It's all rooted in Catholicism.

The pancakes sound very yummy and cute. :)

yeah, it seems the point is still to get rid of the good stuff before boring Lent food. I am so glad I am not Catholic :P

But hey, I am more than happy to combine my irish heritage with my cajun um, birthing grounds? What do I call it when I was raised with the foods and traditions, without having done much living in the area myself??

My parents always made pancakes for dinner on Fat Tuesday, but usually aebleskiver, which are Danish pancakes. They are basically like balls of pancake. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%86bleskiver
