Dean couldn’t even look at her, focused on the ground instead.
“So. I guess this is the part where I say it’s not you, it’s me.” He snorted, lips twisting. “It’s true, though. It is me.” He blew out a sigh and kicked at the dirt. “I wish we had more time together.”
A stirring in the distance, and Dean swallowed hard, looked up at her.
“It’s gonna be weird for a while, but Sam’ll take good care of you. I promise.”
The first howl pierced the air. Dean closed his eyes, patted the hood, and headed for the crossroads.
