*g* I wasn't planning on it, but since you asked. :) This was originally part of a five-times piece that just wasn't working. I was just going to let this languish in unfinished-story land, but your comment made me rethink it, and I whittled it down to a drabble. :)

somehow i'm not surprised sam would approach buying an engagement ring with the same dedicated research he uses on hunts. so this is really sweet, but also kind of sad, considering how it ended.... (but sam applying his research-fu to ring buying is very cute.)

My husband actually inspired this. When he bought my engagement ring, he did tons of research, and actually bought the diamond through an online broker, had it shipped to him, and then had a local jeweler mount it. I figure Sam would have done something similar. :)

That was a surprise, you sly dog! Excellent misdirect. I was wondering what kind of monster Sam was researching right til the end! And how typical of Sam to put all that effort at internet researching the ring. But so sad, knowing what happens next.

That was inspired by Jon. :) When he bought my engagement ring, he did lots of research, ordered the diamond online and had it set by a local jeweler. I figured Sam would do the same kind of thing. He's such a thorough kind of guy. *g*

But so sad, knowing what happens next.

Yeah. Poor Sam was just about to get a huge part of his normal life all settled. *hugs him*
