Good and bad, old and new

Well, the Pindolol WORKS. As in, I had a nap after I took one last night, and my half tab this morning left me in quite a nice, sedated haze. Not sedated to the point that I can't function or anything, but that slightly out of focus floppy state that I usually get after some quality painkillers. It's a nice change from the raging anxiety. It's ( Read more... )

You owned the Doctor and the benefits people! Yay! Glad the meds are working right.

Tamora Pierce is a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine. I suspect Alanna may have been a bit of a formative influence. :oP

Poor Pip. You can see why he'd be having some separation anxiety, but it's horrible to have to deal with.

Enjoy your bath!

So nice to have things go right for a change! Apparently the rent assistance thing was a scripting error in the system Centrelink uses, so, now that it's sorted out, we'll be able to pay the electricity and phone bills that are looming large.

I started reading Tamora Pierce with Wild Magic in high school. Always loved them. She's on LJ, did you know? tammypierce

Yeah. It's hard to leave him when it upsets him so much. if we can distract him, he's better, but he just refused to be distracted today or yesterday, and chucked a massive fit. Complete panic. Fortunately, he's not destructive. He doesn't act out by damaging things, he just frets until we get home; barks and howls a lot.

Bath was lovely, thank you!

Yay that the meds are mostly working right and yay for getting the right certificates and cheaper meds!

Books=squee! Especially when Tamora Pierce is my guilty secret :D I still read her when I'm in the mood, loved her as a kid.

*winces* Ouch on Pip with the small setback. Hope he settles down soon with you guys leaving-especially with the engagement party so close!

Enjoy your bath! That sounds heavely right about now :D

Yeah. The prescription meds are cheap, subsidised, but the allergy meds Emma takes, and I take for my hayfever, are nearly $30 in a regular chemist and $15 from a discount one. It's worth driving all the way into Newcastle for, even with the price of petrol being what it is.

Love Tamora Pierce! No secret. I'm coveting Bloodhound, but I'm waiting for it to turn up in Big W or Kmart so I can pay $12-$15 instead of $27.

It's not a setback so much as an ongoing issue. The separation anxiety is his big problem, and it's something we knew about when we took him on. It's likely to continue to be a problem. Some times are worse than others, and the last two days it's been a problem. The engagement party thing shouldn't be an issue, because we're boarding him, and he seemed to cope well with that last time.

Bath was lovely, thank you!

Oh definitely. $15 is a very big difference, petrol aside.

Tamora Pierce is one of my favourites from childhood :D Another one is Jeffery Archer- I will read anything they write on a matter of trust.
Looking at Bloodhound but haven't got it yet. Will do so although I would love to see another book with Aly!

Thanks for the reclarification, hope he finds it easier within time.. Boarding I suspect would be easier-purely as there are other animals etc around him. Poor guy.

Yay! Never knew how much I missed baths until the last few weeks :D

When we're getting roughly $400 a week to cover everything, rent, food, bills, meds, etc., $15 is important. Of course, when I promptly spend the money we could have saved on tea, it's much of a muchness...

It's been so long since Terrier came out that I'll have to reread. I've forgotten most of it.

He seems to do all right with boarding, like he went all right at the RSPCA. A kennel environment is pretty familiar to him. Plus, it doesn't seem to bother him if he's the one leaving us, so he'll trot away with someone quite happily, but he freaks out if we leave him.

Baths are truly wonderful. I think of all my best story ideas in the bath, or I come up with writer's block solutions. Fabulous.

Oh, I should have used bubble bath, I've got some there and I forgot. Drat.

Oh puppy :( poor thing. It's hard to deal with the fretting about leaving... my Mum's dog carries her clothes around everywhere when she's not there.

But yay for book-and-tea having! Hurrah! And pwning Centrelink always will get a high five from me! *high fives!*

I'm betting that the journey to Newcastle is the best excuse just to do random stuff you don't ever get to do at home... as well as med pickup! :) I'm super lucky, I've got one of those discount places just down the road from me. Happily I don't need anything terribly expensive (yet) so haven't really had the chance to check them out. I bought a hot water bottle from them though! /random

Yeah. It's difficult. He's so good in most other ways, but the leaving him really freaks him out.

Luckily, the Centrelink lady was really really nice, and actually worked on once the doors shut for the day to fix our rent assistance issue, so she gets a big high five from me. They're all pretty nice at our local branch.

Yeah, we tend to go to Newcastle at least once a fortnight, just because there are shops and things there that we just don't have out this way. It's useful going out there now and again, too, because it gets us out of the house.

First of all, yay for back pay. Woot! And for medications that work.

It sounds like things are going well.

I tried reading Alanna by Tamora Pierce right after I got out of the hospital in July and just could not get into it. I look forward to hearing what you think, and getting inspired to try it again.

I honestly haven't read the Alanna quartet since high school. It was the Immortals quartet that got me into Tamora Pierce. I didn't read the Alanna ones until much much later.
