today i had a cool day. my life is getting better here in Chicago. as some of you may or may not know, ive struggled with drug addiction and several other addictions on and off throughout my life. i racked up nearly 6 years clean and relapsed close to a year ago. today i have 49 days free from heroin. im very proud of myself but also very sad about ( Read more... )

1. there is a papa john's place in a parking lot 80 seconds walking from our house and no joke they make the parking lot smell like a childhood pizzeria

2. there are other pizza joints in austin that are not just papa john's

3. i'm sorry. i feel if i was the friend i once was i would know all these things. i feel i aint been around, i'm sorry.

4. i'm proud of you, and i too am immensely grateful that you're alive today.

5. saw you might be visiting portland? when? we might be up in the nw sometime this summer too. slight chance of it but a chance nonetheless.

6. down here is also derrick and shappy and cristin and plenty of swimming holes and a river for tubing 40 minutes away and the sun dont set until 8 and we have a cute dog and all that can be yours to touch should you come see texas.

But I feel that I have gotten to know you through your poetry and your LiveJournal the last couple of years.

I am also grateful that you are alive.

I am extremely happy and proud that you are 51 days clean

I have my own addictions, and they are super hard.

I also like eating pizza, but am not in Chicago. There are a lot of awesome people in Chicago. I am glad that you are close to them. Should you ever end up wanting pizza in Minneapolis, I will be there soon.

You are amazingly talented, and this work that you're doing now. This eating pizza and reaching out to friends and staying clean, this is important work. Thank you for doing it.
