Thanks, I'll definitely let you know if we have to go that route. I *think* this is a simple fix of the stabilizer for the front-loader, assuming the drum itself didn't get damaged while it was thumping around. Aside from this problem, I really like my washer and haven't had any issues with it since we got it when we bought the house. I hope it's fixable.

If I were just a smidge more handy and confident with large appliances, I'd have probably attempted the fix on thing myself.

Aaand my hopes are shattered. Blown bearing, the part alone costs almost as much as a new machine.

So, shopping for a new machine begins...
