We had originally wanted to participate in Free RPG Day by having our Mutants & Masterminds Beginner's Guide included (an introductory product for our flagship game that we specifically had printed up to take advantage of opportunities like this -- we promoted it at the
ALA Midwinter show, we had it on hand at

It doesn't surprise me in the slightest though. Gamers seem to me to be willing to bitch about stuff at the drop of the hat. Even more so if they think they're going to be getting stuff for free.
The demand doesn't surprise me much either. A large number of people, particularly in North America, complain about the "high cost" of RPGs these days (to which I usually reply: "Come live in Australia, where we pay 210% of the US cover price!"). So when they hear of free stuff, they come a runnin'.
