Passport away

FINALLY.

I was told flat out that I should expect "expedited" service to take at least five weeks, not the two weeks listed on the government websites. I'm not surprised. I had to insist that the guy at the office actually send the various notarized lists, forms, and statements that I painstakingly collected over the last couple of months. He ( Read more... )

FWIW, I was let into the States last year with no hassle with a copy of my birth certificate that had been faxed to me by the passport office, when they didn't get me a new passport in time to let me into the country. It was one of the least-hassle border crossings I've ever had, actually.

I know my situation is a lot different from Kate's, but I get the impression that the average border guard is mostly interested with keeping things flowing smoothly lately; all my trips to the USA in 2006 were hassle-free. Maybe it's due to my new passport not having a bunch of Schiphol Amsterdam stamps in it... :-)

Yes, but you've got that youthful innocence about you. Kate sports an aura of mystery and danger that makes everyone stop and check to be sure she's not toting anything with extra wiring coming out of it. I sure wouldn't want to meet her in a dark alley. She's a ninja, that one.
