I left my shift 3 hours early last night. I had enough. We've all been there, you're doing such a good job do you think you could do this too? I'm the wrong guy to ask. Usually I bow out of those situations a little more gracefully than I did last night. While my words weren't directed at anyone in particular, you never know who takes offense to ( Read more... )

Uggghhhh. I’m the newest person at my job and today is day two of being left in charge and delegating projects. Being diligent and capable is only ever punished, right?

Emergency contact…no best friends?

Zero friends. Not one. My friends are scattered about the country. None in Texas.

That’s tough. Are you introverted or extroverted?

A little of each, I suppose. 30.5 years sober plays a larger role, so the standard social outlets don't exist for me. I'm also 56 in a college town where the average age is 24.

That's precisely the attitude I currently have. I can't continue to keep a laundry list of why I shouldn't, I just need a small glimmer of hope as to why I should.

I wish I would have walked out on my previous job but I didn't have the balls to.

My manager/owner of the company laid everyone off when Covid happened and only brought me back when we were allowed to reopen, which is fair but then we started getting really busy and she only had me running everything and all the departments. She wouldn't listen to me when I told her I needed her to hire someone to help me. My other coworkers ended up finding new jobs because they weren't working when they were allowed to. I think she only wanted to pay one person. I was very good at running everything on my own but I knew it was only a matter of time before I started making mistakes because we used to be four employees (and I am only one lol). Anyway, I ended up just quitting and not showing up to work one morning, so she had no one to run her company and she had to actually do the work lol. And guess what? She ended up hiring TWO office staff lol.

I'm behind on your posts (and everyone else's) but will get caught up throughout the day :)

It is certainly a good idea to have some sort of community to turn to, even better if it is your own family. Because it looks like tough times are coming for us all.

I really need one. Things are weird here. There's a post-pandemic "stranger danger" that make me feel like a predator daily. 1,400 miles away, I asked what flavor scoop of ice cream would pair well with blue moon and got an answer, not someone fearfully looking down at their shoes. Having a weekend filled with familiarity was unexpectedly pleasant too. There's nothing logical about this move other than I have hopes of rekindling what once was. Nothing.

What makes sense on paper, often fails in reality. So, things may work out even better than you hope. Fingers crossed. xx
