That was really nice, I liked the tension and Fay's dilemma, and their conversation. I think my heart skipped a bit together with Fay when Kuro mentioned his name. I would definately fall for that.

I think Fai can definitely be a bit of a bastard on occasion (when he's simply not feeling beaten-down.) He's intelligent enough to realize exactly how terrible his circumstances are, and his relative lack of control over them - it's a testament to his self-control that he isn't cruel more often.

Luckily, Kurogane is willing to look beyond his facade, as you showed here. The dialogue flows really well between them.

But you're right - he does show surprising self-control. It's an interesting look at his character, because previously he has not displayed a real sense of self-control. But I'm assuming that was part of the facade.
