Sherlock Holmes, perhaps? Any 'verse you'd like (I'm partial to the 2009 movie and the 2010 BBC). And as a prompt: clang the illiterate door if freedom writes no happier alphabet OR MAYBE UHHH: but what the leaves hear is not what the roots ask OR PERHAPS FOR SOMETHING LESS ABSTRACT, something that includes the sentence: If Sherlock makes that noise one more time, John is going to get up and hit him.
As for AUs... well, lately, I've been reading a few ficfusions using Phillip Pullman's 'His Dark Materials' as the base: just taking the premise of daemons and all and applying it to a specific 'verse. If you're familiar with it, and want to, you could try it out!

I have a prediction to make: I will be about 3000x more inspired to write this fic after seeing X-Men: First Class, either because I'm all excited about the X-Men franchise or because I'm so horribly outraged at the story was done that I feel the need to do it better.
I shall hold you to the prediction. Because I'll need all the cheering up I can get. I spend 3/4 of the summer studying and then taking the Bar Exam, and I'll need sanity breaks.
Of course, my sanity breaks are slash fiction.
So please, be either inspired from glee or ire by X-Men: First Class and share the results with me.
