Tomas/Ashen-Shugar - a sandy-haired boy with bright blue eyes, and a boyhood friend of Pug’s during his childhood and adolescence in Crydee. Originally apprenticed to Swordmaster Fannon, but his destiny also changed during the trip to Krondor to request help from the Duke (Erland). He was separated from the group, and later came upon the dragon Rhuagh - in his final hours of life. Rhuagh offered Tomas (in thanks for his company) a mysterious suit of armour and sword, which he took and wore. This suit later changed Tomas - he began recalling strange visions of an ancient life, and a mysterious "bloodlust" arose within him. He rose to become a might warrior among the Elves during the war against the Tsurani, but the armour seemed to be taking over his soul. He became Queen Algaranna’s lover during all this, but the Spellweavers held grave fears for the young man. Only in a last ditched effort did Tomas conquer the spirit of Ashen-Shugar - which was somehow still infused within the Valheru’s suit of armour. Guilt resulting from the

You know, I was reading this again and Rhuagh is the dragon that gave Tomas the armor, but not the dragon he rode into battle as Ashen-Shugar. I will find it though!
