Odd #1: As I drove past the houses on one street in my subdivision, four or five in a row had their recycling bins at the curb, full. Our garbage day is on Friday. There was no holiday, and even if there was, the garbage and recycling would be picked up on Saturday. This was Sunday at 9:45 in the morning. Strange

also where did you get your Paczki? My mom used to make em on Fat Tuesday but then she decided to start working fulltime etc and had no time. I should call her for the recipie but i don't know if she has it anymore. I would love to get some. (hmmm i wonder if aunt sophie will be making those)

The paczkis came from Jewel. There was a whole display of them in the bakery section. Also, if there's a Meijer near you, ours always has a paczki-eating contest on Fat Tuesday, so you could try there. Are there any good Polish bakeries near you? There used to be one a couple blocks from my house, but I was on a different side of town.
Are you Polish? I never knew. Well, if that's a yes, that is. :P My dad never made them, and I don't recall my grandma ever making them, but I also never really saw her around Mardi Gras time, and I can't imagine her making them any other time.
You have an Aunt Sophie...I have an Aunt Sophie too...now I wonder if my Aunt Sophie makes paczkis. Probably not. She's in California; I can't imagine too many Californians eating them, unless sprouts are involved. (She's one of my dad's two sisters.)
