Hotmail hacking?

Around the time of the duck sighting, I came online and checked my email. There was a message from a friend of mine whom I haven't heard from in a while. The subject line was weird, "Re:hi," but I wasn't so concerned about that. Except, when I opened the email, it was clearly spam. Trust me, my friend is not going to be emailing me about

that happened to me about a year ago - i got hacked and emailed everyone about 'great oppertunities' [sic].

i just changed my password, no big deal.

I forwarded the letter on to both Hotmail and my friend, and she replied and said while her inbox didn't appear to be touched, her address book got deleted, so that's a bummer.

My dad got hacked a few years ago, and his account apparently sent off so much spam that AOL wouldn't let any of us access our accounts for a while. That was really frustrating.
