Projects projecting into next year

No sooner did I return to work last Friday than I got a phone call regarding a project similar to the one I did in August, the one where I spent several days getting items ready for a group of people to learn stuff. It was from a similar large entity to the August project, and I got to say, well, conveniently enough I know I can help you out because we have a bunch of equipment from August Project, so I just need to go through things and clean up the equipment and this should work out. The woman I talked to said, funny you should mention it...the person facilitating this is none other than the person who facilitated August Project. He's doing the same thing with a different group, and obviously knew we had what he needed. This second company had used another equipment provider, which gave what was described as an "outrageous" quote for equipment usage. I was able to talk to my boss to get them a better deal. The only issue is that they need it right away, as the training starts first thing Monday morning on January 4th.

This is how I spent much of this afternoon going through the equipment to find stuff to use and get ready. As of today, everything the first entity used has now been returned; the last few pieces came back while I was in the back. Each piece of equipment has several accessories necessary to have everything work right, so part of what I was doing was making sure each item had its correct accessory. At this point, I have to leave it to BBC and Helper 2 to do the official check-over to make sure everything is okay; the first item Helper 2 grabbed was not, which bummed him out. But he's starting with the more difficult items to get them out of the way.

This second entity is using almost three dozen items. Size-wise, they're medium to large, and I had to move stuff around first to find the newer items. Oy, I haven't moved like this in a while. I even took a slight break at one point, partly because I had another task that I needed to do before I left, partly because I needed an accessory from the front building, and partly because I was already sore and just didn't want to lift and move things for a few minutes. Helper 2 is a little nervous about it because it's a lot of work to do during shortened holiday weeks, but as long as we can get it done by next Thursday, we'll be in good shape. The facilitator said he could take delivery on Saturday the 2nd, and my boss said he'd be okay with that, so long as the building is open. We want to be sure it's there before he needs it as that'll be easier for everyone. And it's only for the month of January, too. We don't do much business with the entity in question, and my boss is thrilled at the thought of gaining them as a client, so we want to make a good impression on them. Especially this year, when business is down, getting this foot in the door is great. Plus, we're able to make more money on this equipment that otherwise would be sitting around unused for several months. This is great.
