Panic mode?

Tonight, after dinner, I did my Duolingo exercises while half-listening to the news. There were a couple of absurd notes following some of my answers, so I took screenshots of those (because seriously, when I give a particular answer, I don't know why Duo would then give me "another translation" and have it be identical to my answer). Once finished, I decided to do an online jigsaw puzzle, then a second. They're timed, and you have to finish in 8 minutes. I didn't with the second; it was hard.

While doing that second puzzle, an odd icon I didn't recognize appeared in the upper left corner. Usually I'll see a little speaker icon if the sound is playing, like it does for Forty Thieves or Mahjongg Candy, but the puzzle doesn't have sound, or at least not automatically. This looked like a CD with an exclamation point in the lower right. Uh...what's this? When the second puzzle expired, I figured I shouldn't try to do it again, and clicked on the icon. Well, guess what--my phone officially is almost out of space.

I've been keeping an eye on this for a while. Months, even. There was a point when I was sick when I went through and took screenshots of certain text conversations, planning ahead for the possible time when I'd change my settings so that I only keep the last 500 texts in a conversation. A few of them go back three years, but I'd lose most of that if I changed the setting. I think maybe I've mentioned that with Laura, that amounts to the last five or so conversations we've had. That's a bummer.

Okay. I've known that I needed to get some stuff off my phone; this was the impetus to deal with my pictures. So, with me and my anal-retentiveness, I need to upload photos from my camera first, and then I'm comfortable getting them off my phone. This is my quirk. It makes me uncomfortable to do it the other way. So now I had to upload the remaining pictures that were most recently downloaded from my camera (they went through September 5th), upload them to Flickr, then upload any pictures I'd already sent myself from my phone that were before 9-5. This took two and a half hours. I mean, all the camera pictures were ready to go up; I've just been a lazy slug. And it didn't take all that long to label the phone pictures, since they were already in a folder waiting to be taken care of. Okay, I've done a little, and I also emailed myself some screenshots so I can take care of those soon, and I also downloaded the current remaining photos from my camera so I can get those dealt with and get more stuff off my phone. Being quirky can get a little annoying sometimes.

But I know at some point I'm going to have to change that setting and lose those older texts. Sigh. I'm not quite ready for that just yet. I've been telling myself it'll be okay, but I'm such a hoarder at heart that it's hard. (I keep trying to tell myself that it's like a spoken conversation, where once everything is said out loud it's fleeting and gone after it's been heard, but it's not working that well.)
