Last Thursday, the radio station we listen to at work wasn't coming in very well--it was staticky. My boss put on a CD so we would still have music. No big deal. However, on Friday, the song playing on the radio when I walked in the door was "Safety Dance." Um...the morning DJ on the station we normally listen to gets pretty eclectic with his selections, but it's a jazz station. (It's what my boss likes.) At no point have I ever heard this DJ venture into Men Without Hats. Well, because it came in better than our regular station, we spent the day listening to a classic rock station. Holy cow, did it make a difference in my day. Finally, something I can sing along to! Songs would come on that I haven't heard in a bit and I'd be like, oh, wow! Heh. Granted, I'm not sure my coworkers truly appreciated my excitement and joy, especially when I started singing, but hey, it put a pep in my step and helped make my day better. I wonder if the station's been switched back yet. I mean, it's okay if it has...but I won't be sad if it hasn't.
Sample songs:
"Don't Stop Believin'" (YC would have been bummed to miss that one)
"Stayin' Alive" (The manager, walking in front of me at one point, refused to strut to it)
"867-5309" (They've got my number; what can I say?)
"Piano Man" (This was in a book I got with my keyboard back in the day, so even though I didn't really know it, I still knew it as I used to try and sing it when I was alone)
I don't even remember a lot of them but it doesn't matter. Made my day.
