Our uncommon Christmas has commenced!
I had to work for a few hours this morning. Without getting into it, we had a situation first thing, and it probably took up half the morning. I'd expected things to be quiet and had a project planned; yeah, didn't happen. But we got out at noon, and I was home by 12:45...to discover grandma was already here, and my family was having lunch. Dad had called me at work to see what I wanted from Steak 'n' Shake, as they figured they'd take grandma there and bring me back food. Grandma, however, stopped at Culver's on the way--and promptly broke their pop machine somehow. She'd gone to get a lemonade, only the fountain wouldn't stop dispensing her beverage, and even when a worker came over to help, it kept going. They had to turn the whole thing off and get her something to drink from the back, she said. Oy.
We spent time talking, and around 2 dad went upstairs to take a nap. He'd said to wake him by 4:30 so he could make dinner, but it was just pasta, so I went ahead and did it. We'd had the thought to check out Mooseheart's holiday lights display as something fun to do with grandma, so we drove through the neighborhoods looking at house lights before heading there. We were glad we did it and weren't sure what to expect; there were some interesting light displays. Good times, and the money goes to charity (Mooseheart itself).
Now, we're back home and chilling. We'll do gifts in the morning, grandma will get to see all the behind-the-scenes cooking (read: yelling) that occurs before dinner, and she said she'd like to get on the road by 2 PM. We shall see how everything goes.
