Pinning things down

We're entering Hell Weeks 1 & 2 at work. It's the time of year when we have too much to do and too few people to do it. We do have non-employee-type people willing to help out, which is awesome, but we're still stretched thin at some points. Consequently, I will be at work from the start of business to the end of business for at least half of the next two weeks.

We had our weekly meeting this morning, where I attempted to pin down my boss on exactly what hours I'd be working, and who would be going where. He kept changing the subject. Helpful. We're not going to have a meeting for three weeks, though, because next Monday's the holiday, and then it's just him and the manager the second Monday of the month, starting next month, so yeah. Kinda need to figure out what's going on. What will likely happen, which isn't great but I'll deal with it, is that I'll start at my normal time, clock out for a couple hours in the afternoon, then finish up the last few hours. My boss has to be at these work things when he'd normally be the night shift, and our newest employee (who didn't show up today, at least while I was there...and I was there 'til quarter past five...she should be there at 3:30) cannot be left alone, especially during the busy season, so...yeah. At least it's getting me out of the work things.

My fear has to do with tomorrow morning--because of how the scheduling is, I may well be the *only* person there in the morning. The manager is normally off, the owner has to do his regular client calls, and at the same time someone has to do one of the work things, so that's pulling the person who would normally be with me on a Tuesday morning. This...could get interesting. We have lots of phone calls happening, and people stopping in, and it's hard keeping up with everything even when other people are around. With nobody else...I'm not looking forward to it. So, yeah, going to be a fun couple of weeks. At least I have Monday off, in theory (thank you, Labor Day parade).
