There's a bathroom in here!

I spent a decent portion of yesterday digging out my bathroom. Not only had I not cleaned it since…*cough* last year…*cough*, it also was pretty dirty following the mini-remodel. Dust was EVERYWHERE. I'd already hidden some stuff in my under-sink cabinets, plus removed all the good linens (which got washed, then put in the linen closet) save for my shower curtain. I'd even cleaned or wiped down the stuff that went in the cabinets, so most of that I didn't have to worry about. The worst was going to be my medicine cabinet, since there's a slight gap between the cabinet and the door and it was directly below the area where the work was being done. I also needed to wipe down the globe lights as well, since those were pretty dusty. And, I'm going to need to replace several of them. I have a few old filament-style bulbs, and two of them bit the dust during this project; a third is one of the newer bulbs and had died beforehand.

The dust was bad enough that even after wiping all the bulbs and Windex-ing my big mirror, there was still residue up at the top of the mirror. Considering I'd already wiped it down twice, I said screw it. I did shower today and took my squeegee to the condensation and I think that helped. For the medicine cabinet, everything came out, everything got wiped down, and after air-drying, everything went back. I'm reminded that I need to use up some of the stuff in there. Also, I have these old tubes of lip gloss I'm trying to go through, and I wanted to be able to at least tilt them so gravity brings the gloss to the tips. If only I had a small container in which I could prop them up… I discovered I had a new tube of travel toothpaste, so I stole the box, cut out one side, and voila! Looks weird but does the job. After that, I cleaned the vanities (and this is when I properly cleaned the mirrors), did my floor, and called it a day.

Today, I washed my shower curtain and liner, and I put back the items that live in my shower caddy. I have basically a second set of toiletries I only use on the weekends; those have been stored under the sink. Time to pull 'em back out and use them. I have an old soap dish and cup I use to hold stuff like my razors, and those were items that could stand a cleaning, so I made sure to do that before I hopped in the shower. All appears well. There's still a few more things I could clean, but nothing is too terrible right now, and my bathroom looks and functions like a bathroom again, so it's all good.
