Superman

Okay, I must confess that everything I've seen and heard so far about Superman Returns has left me lacking in whelm. I'm not Supes' biggest fan to begin with, but the trailer left the film looking slow, plotless and essentially like a retread of the first two Superman movies with younger actors. However, this is a damned pretty poster; in its own ( Read more... )

It's beautiful. The style is remeniscent of Alex Ross's DC covers. I wouldn't be surprised to hear of his hand in it somewhere.

It is a great poster. I'm still not convinced by the film, but I am amused by the costume debates raging among people who really should find something serious to worry about. That'll be enough Superman-related entertainment for one year, surely?

Not bad...

in amusing superhero related news, today's (Dutch) Metro has a news clipping from ANP that claims playing with superhero toys suchs as "Superman, Batman and GI Joe" as a child is dangerous to your health. Not because you might swallow small parts, but because 'research has shown' that later in life, these children will turn anabolic steroid abuse in attempts to buff up and look like their former heros/rolemodels.

People looked at me strangely when I started cracking up on the metro. All I could think is 'did these researchers ever meet real comic book fans?'.

I can only hope that these researchers' findings have been horribly misrepresented in the press. Because otherwise they're quite, quite mad.

One assumes this is the case. Although it may be that a significant portion of steroid abusers did play with superhero dolls and had their fragile little minds warped, but that's hardly causation...
