The new Steven Moffat era version of the Doctor Who logo has arrived. They announced it this morning. Yes, they announced a logo. Yesterday they announced the announcement. Sadly the ridiculous over-hype worked on me, and I turned up at 8 am to see it.

It still won't be as radical a change as that from Troughton to Pertwee - new Doctor, new companion, new title sequence, new logo, change from b&w to colour, and new format of the show.

In the past, quite a lot of things did change around the time of the change of Doctor, but a little more was done to preserve the appearance of continuity, by not doing everything at once. JN-T's two planned regenerations, for instance, were preceded stories by getting the new supporting cast in place. Much the same seems to have happened (though it was perhaps not planned) over the Hartnell/Troughton change.

I suspect the aim is to stamp 'I am not RTD' all over the work, bring back viewers who where put off by the previous team and move on.

It is an entirely new production crew, I suspect a lot of people will have moved on when RTD left, which is a very good thing.
