Valkyria Chronicles: Initial Impression

I've been playing a bit of Valkyria Chronicles yesterday and today; up to Chapter 4 now.

Lancers are fortunately easier to take out with weaker troops, should you plan it right. Since they can't counter any attacks, it's easy to take a small squad (Like a scout and a shocktrooper) and pulverize on them in their headwounds. Likewise, enemies really like doing this shit to you too. :\

I personally wouldn't classify the main characters and dialogue as atrocious; "Generic" may be a better word for it. None of it ever offended me to sift through, but most of the stereotypes tend to appear. It is unfortunate that much of the spotlight is taken on the main cast, though. I got interested in a few of the side characters more and would've like to see more done with them outside of battle, even if done in Suikoden-like skits or just chatting up to detemine troop morale. Having the scenes stuck with just the main cast for all plot points made it feel just a tad smaller than it should have.

But yes, the meat of the game? So good and so fun.
