Water in bad places. *woe*

Aug 21, 2007 17:00

I'd like to thank everyone who has posted fic and pretties today, and especially sheafrotherdon for starting the Festival of Bellies where so many talented people are participating. At this point, taking short fic-reading breaks is pretty much the only thing keeping me sane. *sigh* My husband woke me at six thirty this morning to share the news that our ( Read more... )

Oh man, that sucks horribly. Er, except that I guess that with the shop vac involved, sucking is a good thing? But anyway-*hug* I hope things dry out okay.

Thanks, hon...I'm pretty freaked out at the amount of water we're still getting out of the carpet. If we can't get it dried out, it'll be major...seriously major. *sigh* I'm not sure how it compares to your chimney, but still...badness. :(

And yes, right now, I suppose *sucks* is a good thing...at least when it comes to the shop vac. *LOL*

*hugs you*

Oh hon! That's terrible! I know just how you feel, especially since you invested sooo much in the basement. Are you insured for that kind of damage by any chance?

I do hope you can save the carpet. I have one of those industrial wet dry vacs in Australia and have used it for flooded floors too (a long time ago).

That's a funny image of garnet standing in water eating. Hee!

*hugs you tight*

*giggles, slightly hysterically, at your icon*

We are insured, but I don't want to get them involved unless we find that the carpet is unsalvageable. *sigh* The shop vac is doing a heroic job, but there is still a lot of water in the padding. It looks okay and then you step into squishiness. It's going to take time and a lot more effort. I don't even want to guess at how many gallons of water we've gotten out already. *is exhausted* As bad as it is (and as upset as I am), there was much worse flooding in town. I don't even know how many people have been affected, not only here, but in the surrounding area. The rotten thing is...we wouldn't have had any damage at all if our pump hadn't gone out. *headdesk*

And, yes, throughout the day the image of poor Garnet would flash into my mind, and I just couldn't help but giggle. Hee! She's such a silly kitty. *pets her madly* Thanks for the good thoughts and the hugs, sweetie.

*snuggles you*

Ha! I thought the icon was kinda appropriate but worried you might think I was being flippant about your troubles. Glad it didn't come over like that. Oh that's good you're insured if worst come to worst. Yeah my Mum had the same problem with carpet getting wet because of a bust pipe. She got some professional in who sucked it dry. Not sure what equipment they used.

So there was flooding in the greater area? Rainfall?

*hugs*

All the professionals are either booked solid due to the damage in the area or out of commission themselves. :( Tons of rain, and it also led to the Sandusky river going over its banks. We're still going to try to get someone in here even as we contiunue to work on it ourselves. What I really want is a do-over. *headdesk*

Oh, no!

Poor you. *Pets Anna*

I'm so sorry to hear this; it's awful for you. I can understand how you must feel, especially after investing money, time, energy and emotion into making it part of your home. I do hope that it can all be sorted out and it'll dry okay.

I had to smile at the tale of kitty *Pets Garnet*

*Hugs you*

Thanks, Nikki. *hugs* It's starting to look worse as time passes, though. *sigh* I'm hoping that we can get some people in, but in the mean time we're doing what we can.

Oh, and yes...poor Garnet. *g* She said to thank you for the *pets*. *LOL* It really was pitiful and funny at the same time. *g*

Oh, no :-( Sometimes that does happen, it reaches its worst and then . . . Here's hoping.

More pets for Garnet.

And more snugles for you.

And ::coughs:: For Anna

Seriously. I'm still fairly freaked out, and starting to think that it may be a losing cause. I haven't given up, though. *sigh* Garnet and I both appreciate the hugs. Thanks, Tiff.
