Thankyou but you are missing the point - this is an OPERA, i.e. future professional vocal students who are on par with Fleur or in some cases perhaps better (in technique, not in style, flair and personality. Phew.) I am good at pitching notes usually, and since coming here I have learnt a lot more about how to sing properly and am much better and more confident than I used to be, however it's like you finding yourself suddenly in the middle of the Ballets Russes latest production and wondering what you're doing there!
And thanks to your comment I now have "You can dance, you can mhmm, having the time of your life" Abba stuck in my head (and naturally the above is all I know, so this just repeats over and over and over and over!!!) Though now I get a better idea of why you love dancing so much.
I'm getting ready to go out tonight but suddenly forgot I hadn't done this appeal to evade a parking ticket I shouldn't have got, so I decided I get on my friend's computer, did that, then decided to check my email...nothing, so I got bored, decided to manage my emails to see where all my storage space was going and saw your folder so decided to take a stroll down memory lane. My, I am a horrible person. Stumbled across some beauties:S Read a couple then went back to my inbox, and there was one NEW email from Ia3n. Oh, what are the chances...?
Btw, I'm pretty sure the mhmm word is JIVE. Good song, but...:P No, I know what you mean - that was what the whole Houston experience was like for me. I felt so out of place, clumsy, fat, too old, etc. But oh what a learning curve. You'll be one of them in no time. MY point was to stop being so modest - you have so many talents that you never acknowledge. Proud of you:)
Ooh Amy goes to court! Amy goes to court! Ah serendipity and coincidence may often go hand in hand. In this case however I am not sure the gods had a particular motive in mind when they led you to find that new message (though for a moment I was like ??? because I didn't send any email :P I don't get comments emailed to me, you see, I like the suspense of not knowing how many are there, and then accidentally stumbling across unseen ones several months later - it's like emptying out your bag and finding all these $2 coins!) Jive. No wonder I couldn't remember it. Then it goes: Having the time of your life. Oooo-ooo-oooh Stalin you're so great! Hmm, damn train of thought, that's something a lecturer used to say. I suppose being less than the best has its benefits - atleast we can both sit back at the end of the day and feel that we've got something to work toward.
The real beauty about singing as well as dancing, is that you dont actually have to be any good at it to make you feel good. it really just is a feel good fix even when you sound like a cat screaching (out of tune) and move like one falling trough the air.
That is afterall why they invented punk and rock and roll. for those who didnt need to know how to sing or dance well.
I think it is also why there is so much alcohol use among the punk/rock culture. It's nice though, to stand up with a hundred and fifty others and just try to sing to the back wall of a huge theatre auditorium, its something that never happens in 'real life' (which, I posite, is infact not real life at all, as it leaves us feeling bored and unfulfilled and stressed)
I was actually implying that the alcohol culture has developed out of neccessity, as the sheer noise of the music can only sound agreeable under the filter of several litres of anti-liver. Thank god I am surrounded by singers, none of whom seem to drink at all (and I thought i was the only one!)
However, I think the operatic tradition was to drink champagne from the prima-donna's shoe, and if this were to happen today without her consent, using her brand new expensive shoes she had intended to wear on her wedding day, she would probably hold the champagne-soaked shoes and cry.
