While I didn't like the Dandy aspect of the ending, I do agree with you that the actual ending of Elsa calling on Moorcock to take her and ending up in her personal heaven is an odd yet intriguing idea, almost as if in her heart she had to admit she loved the show.
It could also be taken as her own personal hell, too. It is where she will spend eternity, being the headliner in a small traveling carnival. Elsa Mars is just Elsa Mars, freak show ring leader.
I can't see it as a hell, in that she was far too fond of the freaks to really make that work. Yes, she's just Elsa Mars, Freakshow ringleader, but she lived the Hollywood dream and found it empty. Whereas the freaks needed her and in some cases, loved her.
Elsa is one of the more sympathetic of the Jessica Lange characters but I still think Sister Jude is tops. And this season needed a lot more Lily Rabe.
It's not that she's back with the people who loved her and she loved in return, it is that this is all there will ever be for all eternity, and she is aware of it.
I loved Elsa's accent. Hearing Jessica Lange speak gave her such a heartbreakingly tragic voice. So beautiful.
I never saw Asylum, series one disappointed me so much. It was only by accident and the fact that Cathy Bates and Angela Basset were in Coven that I gave it a try.
