I don't think I'll ever get tired of all this rain, but if it persists for a fourth or fifth day I might consider building a boat. Not to throw anyone into a panic (this rain is a lot like the one we had last year and, no doubt, the year before), but you never know ( Read more... )

Building a boat? Isn't that going a little overboard?

The idea is to do just the opposite.

Yeah, good idea.

[Normally she'd protest about doing something suspiciously like housewifery, but this wasn't the time. She fiddled around in the kitchen cabinets for a while before she found what she needed, and put the kettle on to boil impatiently.]

[Well, probably by the time she was done, they'd all be dry enough to talk.]

Uh, wait! Let me give you a hand...

[Umi trailed after Yuuko into the kitchen, disregarding the fact that she was pouring droplets on the floor. One last glance at Fai, to make sure he way okay, and she moved about the place making mugs ready for everyone.]

I hope nobody catches a cold.

Me too, but I think that's the least of our current worries.

[She reaches up into the cabinet and finds a folded kitchen towel, handing it to Umi.]

It's not much, but Clow will be back with real towels.

[Silent all the way back Fai stood next to the table and chairs, leaning against it as he watched drops of water from his hair fall onto the floor. Any other day he would have offered to help the other two, but not now. If anything, his head hurt. What Renji had told him...

Biting his lip, he pushed himself into the chair and leaned his forehead against the table top.]

Wait. What? There was a concert?

Not the kind you're thinking of, probably, but there was something going on.

Like.. drama? And you're just using the concert thing as an example?

Something like that. I was under the impression that music is a conventional metaphor for battle, but perhaps I was mistaken in allowing a certain person to give me that idea.

That's one of the more..unique descriptions of the situation.

I do regret holding back on participating in this symphony, since...let's just say they the brass failed to gather all the strings.

A fatal mistake, I'm sure.

In case of a real Flood, a submarine will be more useful if you want to build something.

I don't like submarines, though.

reginagloriae April 24 2009, 23:55:03 UTC
Huh. That's too bad. It lacks the coolness ring of building an Ark, but I think it'll be more practical.

It seems like it would be more difficult to perform rescues in a submarine, in addition to being claustrophobic.

At least one of each would be ideal, though. How about you build the submarine and I'll make the boat?
