She's out by the lake, on the outcropping of rocks that sometimes serves as a diving board and sometimes just as a brooding place. It's the latter right now; Steph's dangling her legs, watching her reflection in the still water, looking pensive.

And he is there, having been walking. He stops when he sees her, but his foot comes down on a branch and there is a crack as it breaks that echoes across the lake.

he growls and his face is dark and not happy as he turns to go.

Steph turns, startled, at the noise; she hadn't expected anyone else to be here.

He stops, freezing for a long moment, back stiff. The he slowly turns. His face is blank as he sees her.

"Hi."

She isn't sure what to say. She almost wishes she'd let him go.

"...How're you doing?" Teeth in her lip; she turns to face him, crossing her legs anxiously.
