That's just lovely. I loved all the details - the back story with Kimberly, the book and the reading, everything. The way you wound the past in with the present was perfect for Dean's predicament - what else is there to do when you can't move, after all?

And proving him wrong about Sam at the end was the perfect comfort.

I really liked this. Found the first person present a bit tricky at first but was easy to get into as the story was really nice. I love the Dean as a secret reader thing (one of my fav throwaway canon bits).
Loved the details in the little backstory too. Really lovely : ) x

Thanks! I know second person isn't for everyone, but I'm pleased you toughed it out! And, yes, It is definitely one of my favourite head-canon things that Dean is secretly into literature, and reads way more interesting books than Sam. LOL. I think there's enough canon info to back that up, if only slightly!

But you know, for every h/c fic I write that has a real story to back it up, I've got a dozen or so unfinished self-indulgent fluff pieces, where all there is is medical jargon and forehead feels. So keep working at it! Also, it's so good to hear that my smart!dean still manages to retain his essential Deanness. I like to think of myself as quite the expert on Dean's insecurities, so... haha. Write what you know?
