culminating in some kind of dramatic scene where the boys finally have Sam's soul in their grasp and Sam snags it and attempts to destroy it somehow? OH THE DRAMA!

Whoa. That would be. OW. I hope not but you make a very good point. I think for me, I'm fine with things being as messed up as they need to be for now, but I want a happy ending, at the end of the series, i.e. brotherly reconciliation and everybody alive.

Also? I didn't actually watch The Littlest Hobo, but I totally remember it coming on.

Yes, that would be OWey. But of course Dean would prevail and shove Sam's soul back down his gullet whether he wanted it or not, and then Sam would be all, Dude, that was a violation, but thanks and I AM SORRY LIKE WOAH.

Every Littlest Hobo episode ended with the german sheppard trotting away over the horizon (usually a residential street in suburban Ontario). I definitely smelled an homage there.

Dude. I want to read the skinwalker fic.

SHARPSHOOTER!DEAN! Yes. Show, remind me that this is totally cannon as often as you please. Smokin' hot.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE I KNOW. I've been waiting for YEARS. LITERALLY, YEARS!!!! \o/

I'm just sayin', if I was writing the show, I wouldn't be expecting anything Sam says to be taken at face-value. Not when he has a soul, and ESPECIALLY without one.

*blink* Really? Even if he had a soul? But why not? *chinhands*

I agree though that getting his soul back is something that he thinks he should want, only without a soul understanding why you should want a soul is impossible. It's very circular - don't have one, don't know why you should have one ( ... )

Will Sam's body minus Sam's soul end up being LESS evil than Sam WITH his soul after 100+years of close proximity to LUCIFER? That's where I'd get my angst in, if I was a writer. :)

Dude. DUDE. That would be brutal! I love it. Though it begs the question, does conciousness reside in the mind or the soul? If soulless!Sam still holds all of Sam's experiences, and Sam (aka PEOPLE) is (are) a product of his cumulative memories whatnot, then can a disembodied soul HAVE experiences or retain memories? EEEENteresting....

Or maybe that kind of thinking is a little to sophisticated for the CW. (I'd like to think not...)

There is so much thinking to toss around. Like, is Sam-with-no-soul able to sense or feel what goes on in the cage, or is there a complete disconnect? Is that why he doesn't ever sleep? He said he remembered the cage - is he lying, or does he only remember the short time his body was in there, and now his soul will bring back new memories that will have to overlay the old ones? Will his soul erase the body's memories or keep them? AND HOW CAN YOU NOT GO CRAZY FROM THAT?

OhGod, hold me now. This is going to suck. *latches bomb shelter lid*

I feel like they already did the "back from Hell and damaged" thing with Dean. They need to do something new with Sam. Which they already are, certainly. But I really have no clue what they're going to do with re-ensouled Sam. This is lame of me to say, but I kind of hope his soul doesn't have any memory of Hell, and that he just has these weird movie-like memories of what he did when he was soulless. BECAUSE I hate it when Sam's angst upstages Dean's. *is such a petty Dean girl it's pathetic* Blargh.

Sucks that your story got Kripke'd, but seriously, still post it! I'm sure most episodes would seem lame if you actually did research on them. And I mean, there's a reason (no writing team can seriously justify research to the same extent fans can when they have to churn out 22 episodes a year) but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy them. Nor should we worry about being smarter than them! Post away, friend.

fans who are itching for bro-bonding happy times to return.
um, are we all watching the same show? Has there EVER been an episode when these two were happy and healthy enough to be not paranoid about each other? Because I can't think of one!

are we all watching the same show? That's what I say. Apparently some people just watch season 1 over and over and over. LET IT GO. Lol.

Oh, and I am most def. posting it. Tonight, if all goes well. I'm very proud of my Kripke'd fic!

Yo. I have a day job. Sorta... But honestly, it took me all of an hour to research. I think what the writers aren't afforded enough of is SCREEN time. Fucking commercial TV. If only Spn were on Showtime. I tske it back. then we'd only get 12 episodes a season! The horror!

But season one wasn't even that happy either! There were brother tensions from Sam having left the family to begin with, from Jess burning on the ceiling, from Sam being a special child, I mean come on. This show is brother ANGST, personified! Anyway.

haha yeah, most of us have day jobs (and everyone else should be studying more), but we still spend inordinate amounts of time researching this stuff. ;) But you're right, it's more about screen time than anything else. And that's precious. It's hard enough to wrap up a case let alone include plot arc and character development in forty minutes, it's no wonder they don't omit more details.

haha, oh the short season/long season debate. Of course everyone likes long, frequent seasons, but there's something about getting 12 high-quality episodes and then pining for them only to be super excited when the next year rolls around and you get more quality episodes. But god, don't get me started on some of the cockteasing BBC engages in. (I'm looking at you, SherlockAhem, pls ignore the ( ... )

Right. Can you imagine a MADMEN caliber version of SPN? I would die.

(Sorry for the strange comparison, but I don't watch true blood)

But season one wasn't even that happy either!
I know it! But that doesn't stop fans from pining for the good old days when all the boys were worried about was finding dad and saving pple hunting things the family business. Wasn't it just so sweet and wholesome? PLEASE.

Dean sleeping, his groggy face, his sharpshooting skills, his smarts everything about Dean WAS HOT this episode. And I was thinking: this is the real Dean, you know? The one that has integrated all the aspects of his personality in this new and improved person. I hope the blows I see coming his way won't destroy that and he'll hang onto it.

LISA! I think he's in love, bb!

As for Sam, nope I'm not buying it either because you can't trust this Sam not to sell Dean for a soda. Wether Dean is or not, I'd say that it's up in the air for now. I think Dean has decided that this empy shell is just Sam's body (he says, we get MY BROTHER back) and he needs to preserve it for when he'll get Sam's soul. But there's also a tactical reason, and, like someone suggested in my post, keep him close because Sam would kill more innocent people if left loose.

I also think that Crowley is hidins something - demon, duh! - and there are other things going on beneath the surface that will leave Dean reeling even more than he is.

this is the real Dean

Agreed! He's matured so much! It's hard to watch sometimes though, because I feel like part of that means he knows exactly what he wants-Lisa and Ben and a brother with a soul-but is resigned to the fact that he can't have L&B, so is clinging to the one thing he thinks he can get back, Sam.

But still, I flailed so bad when he gazed longingly at her name in his phone! He's not letting go! SHOW is not letting go.

And yes, I think Dean probably sees it like that. Keep an eye on Sam's empty shell to keep it in tact and out of trouble. And Something is BOUND to be up with Crowley. No doubt!
