Beck Manga/Yuuta/Other Fandom Blather

It really irritates me when people post in communities with links to fic on their own journals, saying "follow the fake LJ cut" or something similar, when they didn't even bother to make their link look like an LJ cut. You wouldn't draw pictures of women in ugly hats grinning out at the audience and go on to tell everyone that they're counterfeit ( Read more... )

:/ I've gotten spoilers? But I wanted them, so. *is crazy*

It's from people who work in bookstores and are cataloguing the books.

I wouldn't mind them, but I'm not seeking them out. I mainly read for new canon, rather than for The Harry Potter Experience, but it might be distracting to know that something's going to happen. Like if someone told me that Eiji & Oishi were going to break up for good sometime during the series--I'd always be waiting for it to happen, and I'd see it telegraphed in every word they spoke to one another. :D It's just. Why would someone think it's appropriate (or courteous) to put out uncut spoilers, not even before the thing has been out for some weeks or is out in the entire world, but before it's out anywhere?

Ah, those people! Nothing so interesting as people inventing time travel solely to read the next book before the rest of fandom does, then.

[ I'm catching up on LJ after my week of abstinence. ]

I got into Beck by watching a few eps of the anime, but once I started the manga, I dropped the anime entirely. The original manga of a series is usually better than the anime, but here the gap in quality was so very, very great, I just couldn't bear the anime anymore. Beck is one of those things so good I never even post about it, just read it and let it tear my heart out.

And darling Yuuta!

I'll keep watching it, as it's part of the lineup at my anime club, but--dude. If the manga weren't published at a snail's pace, I'd be trying to read it all first so that the anime didn't spoil me. It really is much, much better. (It's too bad people never seem to talk about the best series! I tend to do the same thing, but it means that fewer people will learn about brilliant series.)

That icon! :D
