on oversharing and medical TMI

Oct 25, 2008 08:22

Now, this is not a post about my most recent health trials and tribulations. No, this is about over-sharing of personal health stuff, especially of health stuff that... Let's just say, it would put you off your lunch. ( What continues is only slightly TMI, but it puts this post in context. It may put you off your lunch if you know a) what I'm talking about, and b) my current state of health. )

pondering, over-sharing, medical stuff, my health

Well I guess if you put it behind a cut, then it really is on the person to "look behind the curtain" so to speak. Sometimes sharing a medical condition is helpful, as someone else may have had a similar condition or have been through some thing like what you are going through, So, learning how you handled it is useful. But I'd say put it behind a cut so those that really do not want to know can pass over it. Or you could make a special group for those that want to share their medical conditions, and then only those people would even see the post.

Well, see, that's the thing. I would be posting it pretty much for the visceral enjoyment of it. I don't know if my little posts could ever have a benefit for others. They're more along the lines of a toddler chewing his food and opening his mouth, saying "Lookee!", except that I would have a bit more mature of a "lookee" style of writing.

:-)
