His eyes blink open, but he doesn't say anything. He didn't hear what Stephen said, just that he was talking and that woke him.

"I love you and I'm sorry and I don't know what came over me, Gabriel, I really don't."

Cling is the operative word.

He doesn't know what to say. He's still holding him, because he hasn't yet let go. But he doesn't know what to say. He's still somewhere between pissed and confused about the whole ordeal, because there is the whole part of the conversation where he had said the exact same thing and got pissy!Stephen for it.

So, he keeps with the 'not saying anything' part and just holds him; eyes closed, just holding.
