Aang heard footsteps and took a short jump back, putting his arm in front of Zuko protectively. The other boy's paranoid attitude had him feeling jumpy. He immediately remembered his manners, though, and tried to assume a more neutral position.

"Um..." he said, trailing off out of nervousness. "Um, excuse me, my name is Aang and this is my friend Zuko. Can you tell us where we are?"

Iroh sighed as he fumbled around the kitchen, setting a couple of plates and glasses down the table and started serving the breakfast. Thankfully there still were some of the pastries they served to the costumers. He made the mental note to buy more healthier food later ( ... )

"The last two of what...?" Aang asked. His eyes followed Iroh as the man made breakfast, and he waited till everything was fully prepared before sitting down at the table. He'd been taught that it was rude to sit down while someone was preparing your meal, as though you were waiting for them.

The pastries looked delicious, and as soon as he saw Iroh and Zuko eat, he helped himself was well. They were very good pastries.

"The last two of being attacked." Iroh said, hoping to avoid any further questioning. He wasn't sure how would the young avatar react to know that the dragons were almost extinct.

Taking a sip of his tea, he looked at his nephew, waiting for his response.

Zuko took a seat at the table as he heard his uncle speak. He absentmindedly munched on one of his pastries as he thought of what he had been told. He knew this was one of those times where he had to act like a grow up, but he still felt a small twinge of disappointment.

But it was quickly pushed aside as another thought filled him. The dragons had showed his uncle a big secret, so he protected them because the secret must had been really, really important. He grinned at the thought. His uncle was going to be the next Fire Lord, after all; so all his decisions must be the best ones! He felt really proud of being his nephew at that moment.

"What kind of secret did they showed you?" He asked curiously, eating his meal with more eagerness now.

"Yeah! What was it about?" Aang exclaimed, his confusion forgotten in the light of this idea. He even forgot his momentary horror over the idea that anyone would want to hunt a dragon.

"The secret of the very origin of Firebending." He smiled, as the memories flood on his mind. "The more pure form of firebending. True harmony." Chuckling, he took another sip of his tea. A warm smile never leaving his lips.

Zuko gaped at the revelation, his hand hanging near his mouth while grabbing a piece of a pastry, forgetting he was about to eat it as he found himself enthralled with the idea of such a secret. "Awesome." He said breathlessly. "W-will you teach me someday??" The smaller firebender seemed to be filled with enthusiasm as he spoke.

Aang continued to drink his juice and eat his pastry, but with a small smile on his face. He definitely liked Zuko and his Uncle. He hoped that, whenever the monks came to take him back to the Temple, they would agree to let him visit again.

"The dragons are wise. They must have really liked you to give you a secret like that," he said.

Iroh chuckled. "Oh they are. I'm glad they found me worthy." He paused for a moment. "And we'll see Zuko, you first need to finish your trainings!"

The ex-general remained silent for the rest of the meal, seeming to be lost on his thoughts; from time to time taking a sip of his tea. Once the boys were finished he smiled back at them. "Why don't you two go out to play or make more new friends?" He hurried them. "There's still some snow around so don't be out for too long, alright?"

Zuko was now really eager to go and finish off his firebending trainings; he couldn't wait for his uncle to tell him the secret!

He quickly finished his meal, enjoying every bit of it. He wasn't always allowed to have this many sweets at breakfast.

"Whoa, snow, really? I've never seen snow before!" Was his reaction as his uncle gave them permission to go out and play. "Bet it'll be neat." He turned to Aang, smiling. "Let's go!"
