A dreamer could think he's so much smarter than a realist, though just based on the difference between the two you'd expect the opposite outcome. In general, the more you know, the bleaker things seem, dreaming comes out of not knowing various outcomes, from emotional rather than logical yearning, from hoping rather than expecting. So you'd expect a realist to be smarter, and a dreamer to be more emotionally capable (I can't think of a good word analogous to 'smarter').

My problem isn't with dreamers in general, its with dreamers who insist on dreaming about things that can't happen, or who pick insignificant things to dream about, or who are dreamers because it allows them to say "I'm a bit of a dreamer".

But people aren't really dreamers or realists, they're a combination of both, with perhaps a tendency to lean towards one side.
